SHAZ KUIAMA:
Hello, my name is Shaz Kuiama, I am 45 Years old and live in England. I own and manage Skatz Radio with my partner Kaz.
I first started presenting radio shows on cassettes, back in the early 90's, just for fun. I presented over 200 different shows on cassette, as if it was live, before stopping in 1998.
Fast forward to April 2011, my partner Kaz asks a station we were listening too, about starting up her own station, we both end up getting offered to present for this station. I have to say I had no plans to do real radio presenting, shows that could actually be heard live by people all over the world. I did'nt think I had it in me to do this, but said yes, because I knew I would regret it if I did'nt, seeing my partner doing shows.
So thats how all this began.
I seemed to slip into presenting with ease and fully enjoyed it. I found I had a major passion for it and started researching, presenting specialist shows and learning more about the legal side of presenting, broadcasting and how to run a station on the Net.
In the late 1990's I had started to lose interest in the new music that was hitting mainstream, becoming an internet radio presenter in 2011, seemed to fuel my love for new music again, via the Indie Scene. I pride myself in promoting Indie artists that sound like they walked out of the 20th century, playing them side by side with mainstream artists.
In 2012 I created my own personal, independent online radio station called Kuiama Radio, to present my specialist shows on. I ran this station for over a year, and I basically stopped broadcasting on Kuiama Radio, as I became station manager for a 24/7 fully licensed internet radio station, and I was broadcasting all the programming from our studio here, so was unable to broadcast on both. I managed this station for 2 years, before deciding it was time to branch out and start up my own station, with my partner Kaz.
We had visions of a station that brought you the great sounds of the past, mixed in with artists of today that sound like they walked out of the past. Our motto is to bring you old and new retro sounds. Plus bring you radio the way it used to be, with a nice diverse range of music, presented by presenters with character.
That's Skatz Radio! This station launched on August 12th 2014, We are a fully licensed (PPL and PRS) online radio station, aiming towards the more mature listener. Stop by, give us a listen, and if you like what you hear, tell your friends.
